1. The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) delivered
a diplomatic note requesting USG support in seeking a seat on
the Executive Committee of the Pan American Health
Organization (PAHO). The MFA cites GOC support for the
promotion of health, commitment to regional cooperation, and
sustainable human development as reasons why Colombia would
be a good selection for the PAHO Executive Committee.
Elections will be held on September 29, 2008 to fill three
current vacancies on the Executive Committee. A copy of the
diplomatic note has been sent to the desk.
