1. (C) Deputy Head of the Human Rights Division of the MFA
Martin Huth told Poloff November 10 that the MFA had tasked
its embassies in Madagascar and India November 7 to demarche
their respective host governments to vote against the
no-action motion on Iran (per reftel). Huth told Poloff in a
follow-up conversation on November 12 that those embassies
had not yet provided any responses but that he expected
information in the coming days. He said he would share this
with Poloff. In a separate meeting, MFA Iran Desk officer
Andreas Krueger provided Poloff with similar information. He
also expressed the view that these efforts also be
coordinated with missions in Geneva and New York. Krueger
also noted that the MFA is working to increase its dialogue
with the French Presidency on the human rights situation in
Iran.
