MFA Desk Officer Ayesha Borland stated on July 11 that because this
is the first UNGA for the new Belize administration, both the Prime
Minister and the Foreign Minister may attend. Since Belize
Independence Day is observed on September 22 and the GOB has been
invited to speak in late September, the arrival date would be no
earlier than September 23. However, she also stated that
confirmation of dates and attendees would very likely not occur
until September.
