REF: STATE 40380
Serbian MFA Human Rights Counselor Marina Ivanovic told us on
May 22 that Serbia currently has no plans to sign the Prisoners
of Conscience petition. She explained that when the petition
was received, the Serbian government was heavily focused on the
diplomatic issues involving Kosovo, and is currently engaged in
the formation of a new government. The new government might be
willing to reconsider this position. Ivanovic agreed to
reintroduce the issue and contact us if the decision changed.
