The Embassy maintains frequent contact with human rights activists, ensuring them of Embassy support for the role of civil society. Post encourages the government, in private and in public, to protect human rights activists and journalists and to widen the space for civil society in general. Embassy staff give speeches and organize public events that demonstrate the importance of human rights and democracy and the contributions of activists to society.
