REQUIREMENTS

1. (S) The current Department of State Threat Level for
Lebanon is critical,. All U.S. government visitors,
including training missions, are required to lodge at the U.S
Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon for Force Protection purposes and
use Embassy Bodyguards and Heavily Armored Vehicles (HAV) for
all travel.
2. (S) Department of Defense personnel, both military and
civilian, fall under Chief of Mission (COM) authority in
Lebanon. The Embassy is obligated to provide DoD personnel a
similar level of force protection that Embassy personnel
have.
3. (S) DoD personnel are authorized to lodge at the Embassy
TDY facility (&Tango Inn8) which has 12 rooms (double
occupancy) and is normally booked 30-60 days in advance. The
larger the DoD training team, the further out a block of
rooms will have to be reserved. ODC is currently rescheduling
affected DoD missions based on availability of Embassy
lodging.
4. (S) This message does not affect DoD civilian contractors
who are not under COM authority or Joint Combined Exercises
for Training (JCETs).
