1. (C) POLOFF on May 19 conveyed reftel points requesting
China's support for adding the names of four operatives of
Lashkar e-Tayyiba (LeT) to the list of individuals and
entities associated with Usama bin Laden, the Taliban or
al-Qaida that are subject to UN Security Council
(UNSC)-mandated sanctions, including asset freezing, a travel
ban and an arms embargo. MFA International Organizations and
Conferences Department UN Division Deputy Director Sun Xiaobo
responded cautiously, saying he would not be prepared to
respond substantively until MFA had reviewed our points in
detail.
