Econoff delivered reftel demarche to Thanop Panyapattanakul and
Ranoppun Kapittai, both First Secretaries in the Department of
International Organizations of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Thanop expressed general agreement with the points raised in the
demarche and said he would share the talking points with the Thai
ICT officials who will comprise the delegation to the UPU Congress
in Geneva. Ranoppun asked for reciprocal U.S. support for
Thailand's election to the UPU Council of Administration and the
Postal Operations Council. Econoff reiterated our policy on
reciprocal support for elections to international bodies but
promised to convey the request to Washington.
