(S) The Embassy delivered reftel points to a representative
from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Security Affairs
Department on July 22. The representative said he was
unaware if Kazakhstan had approached the GOAJ on this issue,
but he promised to pass the information on to his superiors.
He also said he would have to verify that the GOAJ has not
already made any obligations to the Government of Syria to
support its candidacy. The Embassy will report any follow up
discussions on this issue.
