(SBU) Following post's delivery of suggested Iraqi
diplomatic note text (ref A) to MFA and follow-up engagements
with the Office of the Prime Minister and the Foreign
Minister (reported ref B),MFA Neighboring States director
Amb. Taha Shukur Al-Abassi informed Deputy Pol-Mil Counselor
13 December that the MFA had instructed the Iraqi ambassador
in Ankara to deliver the message to the GOT immediately. As
discussed ref B, we recommend Embassy Ankara engage with
Iraqi counterparts in Ankara to ensure this next stage of the
Hub renewal process moves forward expeditiously.
