1. (C) Speaking with PolMinCouns August 21, Foreign
Minister Zebari welcomed participation in a Middle East
policy planning meeting with Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
He thought Iraqi participation would help improve Iraqi
relations with those states. The notional agenda looked
acceptable to the Foreign Minister. Zebari identified U/S
Labeeb Abbawi as the MFA's POC for the conference, commenting
that planning falls within Abbawi's portfolio.
2. (C) Abbawi is a longstanding MFA contact and is very
credible. We are in regular touch with him about a variety
of MFA issues.
