NEW TRAVELING EXHIBIT - A MAJOR ART PROGRAM TO PROMOTE U.S. CULTURE
AND HISTORY. DEADLINE FOR FIRST TOUR IS 21 NOVEMBER 2008.

A. Expression of interest in component one, two, and/or three: Art
work, educational materials, and/or summer institutes nominations.
--Post is interested in participating in all three project
components (artwork, educational materials and Summer Institute
participations) of "Picturing America" traveling exhibit. Post finds
all three components a suitable platform to promote American art and
culture to young audiences and educators through English language
program run by Athens Information Resource Center since late 2007.


B. Preferred time frame (length in country as month and year,
including black out dates) for traveling exhibit.
Please choose a primary date and two alternate dates.
--Preferred time frame is March 1 - 31, 2009. Alternative dates are
October 1 - 31, 2009 and November 1 - 30, 2009.


C. Priority objectives - How would program serve MSP goals and how
would it fit with or complement other work and programs by post?
--This program serves MPS goal Telling the Truth About America as it
allows post to reach out and connect with Greek students of English
language at public schools. It will also be an ideal tool for
English Language educators that will influence youth and amplify the
program's message.


D. Audiences, including priority public with little accessto U.S.
culture.
--Audience will include Greek students of public schools (ages
11-17),English Language educators, Ministry of Education advisors
and school Directors.


E. Possible venue institutions, including schools, Bi-National
Centers, American Corners, etc.
--Possible venue institutions are public schools and educational
institutions. Key person for programming 'Picturing America' is the
school advisor for English teachers from the Greek Ministry of
Education. This will be an excellent opportunity for the school
advisor to apply knowledge gained from her suggested participation
in the special NEH Summer Institutes on "Picturing America."


F. Possible venue cities, tours to other regions within the
country.
--Venue city will be Piraeus(the second largest residential district
in Athens).


G. Where security is an issue, post must address how it plans to
give host country audiences access.
--No security needed


H. Specific plans for donation of 1 set of malettes, including
institution, audience reached, other programming plans, number of
malettes requested.
--Possible venue for donation of 1 set of malettes is the American
Corner in Sparti.
