1. (U) PolCouns delivered reftel points to Foreign Minister
Dora Bakoyannis' Deputy Chief of Staff, Yiannis Tsaussis,
urging the Foreign Minister's participation in the BMENA
Forum for the Future. Tsaussis later reported that FM
Bakoyannis had carefully considered her attendance but had
other commitments at that time and would not be able to
attend the BMENA Forum. Instead, Greece will be represented
by Theodoros Skylakakis, MFA Secretary General for
International Economic Affairs and Development Cooperation.
EconCouns spoke with SecGen Skylakakis this week about the
Forum and asked if there was any further information the
Embassy could provide him. Skylakakis indicated he was well
briefed on the Forum, and did not need anything.
