1. (C) We delivered reftel points on maintaining travel
restrictions on the Karadzic family to Antonia Katzourou,
European Correspondent for the MFA A11 Directorate that deals
with EU Common and Foreign Security Policy and to Asterios
Tsiourvas, MFA Desk Officer for Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro.
2. (C) Tsiourvas noted that according to the EU common
decision 12166 taken by the working group in Brussels July 24
concerning the return of travel documents to the Karadzic
family, it was determined that there was no longer any reason
to have family members on the travel restrictions list.
Also, on July 30th, the Office of the High Representatives
(OHR) in Bosnia said that travel restrictions on the Karadzic
family were no longer necessary and that the family members
were entitled to have travel documents returned to them.
Tsiourvas noted that the GoG welcomed the arrest of Karadzic
and his transfer to The Hague but would follow the common EU
policy.
