2. (SBU) Charge met with Deputy Chairman/Foreign Minister
Rashid Meredov August 4 to reaffirm U.S. support for an early
gas option and to convey a non-paper on options. Meredov
read the entire document and noted that it offered very
concrete proposals. He said the Turkmen side would review
the paper, and hopefully, would be prepared to discuss it
during the upcoming visit of Ambassador Mann and Special
Envoy Gray.
