1. (C) Pursuant to Ref A guidance, on June 5 we delivered
additional talking points to MFA UN desk chief Nilufer
Kaygisiz regarding our continued interest in Turkey's support
for Ambassador Bill Swing's IOM Director General candidacy
(refs c and d). We emphasized Amb. Swing's strong
credentials, the lack of government backing for any of the
other candidates, and our understanding regarding the lack of
EU consensus on any one candidate. Kaygasiz advised that
Turkey is considering our request and will contact EMBASSY
Ankara the week of June 9 to advise of the GOT's decision.
