(S) In a December 18 meeting, Ambassador and Chief of the
Royal Court Nasser Al-Lozi explored the possibility of
Jordanian assistance in anti-piracy efforts. Lozi made clear
that Jordan fully supported such efforts and, in principle,
would like to help. He cautioned, however, that the
relatively small size and limited capabilities of Jordan's
naval forces made it unclear how Jordan could play a useful
role. Jordan might, he speculated, be able to contribute a
small number of personnel to ongoing or future efforts. Lozi
concluded by agreeing to consider ways that Jordan could help
if requested to do so.
