Classified By: Ambassador R. Stephen Beecroft for reasons 1.4 (b) and (

1. (S) Ambassador delivered Reftel points October 15 to Royal
Court Chief Nasser Al-Lozi. After consulting King Abdullah,
Al-Lozi responded October 16 that Jordan has the M113s and
would be willing to provide them to Yemen if compensated
financially.
2. (S) Note: Jordan owns over 300 refurbished M113 armored
personnel carriers (APCs). They are in good condition, and
post estimates that twenty-five could be provided within the
requested timeframe, pending Third Party Transfer completion.
Jordan has significant in-country refurbishment capability,
such that it should be able to provide the 150-200 APCs that
might be requested at a later date.
3. (S) Post will engage the JAF to discuss the details,
particularly costs, once a source of funding is identified.
