¶1. (C) PolCouns delivered reftel demarche July 15 to Jamal
Al-Shamayleh, Director of Foreign Minister Bashir's private
office. Shamayleh agreed that Iran should not be allowed to
use the NAM Foreign Ministers' meeting to shore up its
diplomatic position, but was not able to offer a more
substantive reaction prior to the FM's return from an ongoing
trip to Latin America. Note: Bashir is expected to be back
in Amman briefly on the 20th. End note.
