(SBU) U.S. Security Coordinator Lieutenant General Keith Dayton met with King Abdullah on July 1 to discuss the ongoing training of Palestinian security forces at the Jordan International Police Training Center (JIPTC). LTG Dayton was accompanied by the Ambassador, the Defense Attache and the Army Attache. The King was joined by the Director of General Intelligence LTG Mohammad Dahabi, and the Director of Public Security Major General Mazen Al-Qadi. ¶2. (SBU) LTG Dayton thanked the King for the continuing support provided by the Jordanian Public Security Directorate (PSD) in training the Palestinian National Security Forces (NSF) and Presidential Guard, and described USSC plans to train two additional NSF Special Battalions at JIPTC beginning in August 2008. ¶3. (C) The King welcomed the August training, and also agreed to provide Jordanian guest lecturers for a Palestinian Senior Leader Course set to be held in Jericho in October. In addition, responding to a question from LTG Dayton, the King agreed in principle that JIPTC could host Palestinian Civil Police training, if asked by EUPOLCOPPS and paid for by the European Union.
