(SBU) Post conveyed reftel demarche on the Universal Postal Union (UPU) via diplomatic note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT),and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MOICT). In a subsequent June 29 meeting with EconOff, MOICT acting Secretary General Afram Jamil said the Minister promised that Jordan would support the U.S. candidacy and asked for U.S. support of Jordan's candidacy as well. Jamil did not comment on the U.S. mission statement proposal, but said he would share the non-paper with the Jordanian delegation attending the UPU conference. Regarding the zero nominal growth, he noted that the U.S. is "always" seeking zero growth across international organizations.
