(SBU) Jamal Shamayleh, Director of Foreign Minister Bashir's private office, told Polcouns June 3 that Bashir has endorsed Jordan's joining the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (reftels). The MFA is seeking a final, seemingly pro-forma approval from the Prime Ministry, which it hopes to obtain this week. ¶2. (SBU) Based on this decision, Jordan intends to attend the June 16-18 meeting in Madrid. The Jordanian delegation will be led by the Jordanian Ambassador to Spain, and may also include a technical expert from the Jordanian Nuclear Energy Commission.
