(SBU) EmbOff delivered reftel demarche to Ministry of Health
Assistant Secretary General for Primary Health Care Dr. Adel
Bilbaisi on May 13. Bilbaisi, who attended most of the World Health
Assemblies over the last decade and who will accompany the Minister
to this year's assembly, conveyed GOJ concurrence with the U.S.
position that smallpox research should proceed until the scheduled
2010 review. He added that presently, there are no Jordanian
virologists to be added to the advisory committee. He also welcomed
briefings by American scientists on advances in smallpox research.
