(C) As requested reftel, Ambassador met January 5 with Deputy
Foreign Minister Dr. Charles Yaw Brempong-Yeboah to encourage
Ghana to recognize Kosovo quickly after the declaration of
independence, and to convey other USG points regarding
Kosovo's status. Brempong-Yeboah said he would share the USG
position with the Foreign Minister, who was accompanying
President Kufuor during his mission to Kenya.
Brempong-Yeboah also asked for additional written backgroung
on the issue, and the Ambassador promised to follow up with
the Foreign Minister upon his return.
