(S) Embassy concurs with and supports the concept of the
West and Central Africa (WCA) Maritime Equipment Package.
The Defender Class boats and spare parts will increase the
recipient nation's maritime capacity. The additional assets
will complement the three boats received 6 August 2008. This
program addresses directly the Ghana navy's need for fast
patrol boats and reinforces other ongoing assistance and
security efforts.
