Poloff delivered reftel demarche on the filing of follow-up
reports on implementation of UNSC 1803 sanctions against Iran
to the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Deputy Director
for International Organizations Charles A. Ononye on May 23.
Mr. Ononye said he would pass copies of the nonpaper, U.S.
submission and resolutions 1737 and 1747 including the
annexes (provided) to the Director of the MFA's First United
Nations Division (FUND) Ms. Laose. Laose has previously
assured POLOFF that directives have been sent to the relevant
Nigerian authorities to ensure robust implementation of the
applicable sanctions. She also noted that the absence of a
nuclear industry in Nigeria effectively impedes any illicit
transfers of nuclear technology.
