(SBU) Per reftels, Poloff contacted Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Director of International Organizations Ambassador
Secudo concerning a possible Nigerian candidate for the
chairmanship of the 2009 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
PrepCom. Ambassador Secudo confirmed that the Government of
Nigeria does indeed plan to put forth a candidate, but at
this time was unable to give further details as to the
identity of the individual. He said the GON hopes to have
reached a decision by late May/early June and will inform
foreign missions accordingly through formal channels.
