1. (U) PolOff delivered reftel demarche concerning the
admission of Burkina Faso to the Trans-Sahara
Counterterrorism Partnership (TSCTP) to Dr. Olawale Maiyegun,
Deputy Director of the Second United Nations Division of the
Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Bureau of International
Organizations. Maiyegun is the MFA's point person on
terrorism and its representative on the National Focal Point
on Terrorism, a Nigerian interagency working group for
counterterrorism matters. Maiyegun said that he saw no
reason to oppose Burkina Faso's membership in the TSCTP. He
offered no additional input on how most effectively to
integrate Burkina Faso into the partnership.
