(S) POLCHIEF and TDY ECONOFF met MFA Director for European, American, and Oceanic Affairs Ali Al Zarouni July 29 to deliver reftel updates regarding Mayrow General Trading in response to UAE inquiries made at the February Counterproliferation Task Force (CTF) meeting. POLCHIEF reviewed general background on the Mayrow investigation and noted the ongoing urgency of the matter. Zarouni accepted the information and said he would pass it to relevant UAE officials associated with the CTF. (Note: MFA Director for International Organizations Yacub al-Hosani is the main MFA point of contact for these matters but will not be available until mid-August.
