1. (SBU) PolChief raised reftel concerns about UAE abstentions in UN
First Committee voting on the Resolution on Compliance with MFA's
Director of International Organizations Yacub al-Hosani on November
24. Al-Hosani said the UAEG agreed generally with the resolution but
had one reservation about the language -- which he hoped the UAE
delegation had explained during the voting. He reviewed the text
with PolChief and was unable to identify the problematic language but
promised to research the issue further.
2. (SBU) Pressed again to support the resolution when it comes up
for a vote in the UNGA plenary, al-Hosani said he and his MFA
colleagues would review our request.
