Embassy Abidjan received a message of congratulations to the President Elect from Lucien Tape Mambo, President of the Forum of Civil Society of the 79 African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (ACP). The ACP is composed of African, Caribbean and Pacific nations that are signatories to the Georgetown Agreement or to the Partnership Agreement between the ACP and the European Union, called the Cotonou Agreement. The ACP's main objectives include sustainable development of its members and their gradual integration into the global economy as well as establishment and consolidation of peace and stability in a free and democratic society. The Civil Society Forum of the ACP was created to encourage the organization and strengthening of civil society. ¶2. Mister President: Your brilliant, but above all, historic election to the Presidency of the United States of America, gives me the happy opportunity to extend to you my very heartfelt and warm congratulations, as well as those of the Civil Society of the 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific States, over which I have the honor to preside. For the whole world, a new day has broken. I would, therefore, like to take this opportunity to thank you for having aroused a new dawn of hope in developing countries, by your accession to the highest office of the United States of America.
