(U) THIS IS AN ACTION REQUEST. Please see para 5. ¶2. (C) Head of MFA's Department for International Security Sanja Bujas-Juraga requested USG guidance from PolOff May 10 regarding a pending export license application from Croatian company "Sistemprojekt" to export a CryoBIND T magnetic ac susceptibility measuring system to the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata. Bujas-Juraga is aware of strong USG support for India's civilian nuclear energy program, but wanted to be sure this sale is consistent with our policy. ¶3. (U) The CryoBIND T is a high-performance, 2 nano-emu sensitivity ac susceptibility system operating in the temperature range of 4,2K - 400K, the 0-100 Oe ac field range, the 0-100 Oe dc field range, and the 1-1000 Hz frequency range. ¶4. (C) The system would be housed in the Experimental Condensed Matter Physics Division of the Saha Institute. The actual applicant for the export license appears to be a broker: CON-SERV Enterprises, B-202 Ani Raj Tower, Bhandup, Mumbai - 400 078 (tel:91-22-259-48608). ¶5. (C) ACTION REQUEST: Post requests guidance by 30 May in responding to the GoC's inquiry regarding USG views on providing the CryoBIND T system to the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. BRADTKE
