1. (U) This is an action request.
2. (C) Prime Minister Ivo Sanader told Ambassador April 25
that he was considering inviting Afghan President Karzai to
the July 6-7 "Croatia Summit" - the second annual such
conference with a Euro-Atlantic integration theme. PM
Sanader and Croatian President Mesic would both extend the
invitation, which Sanader sees as supporting President Karzai
as well as helping to inform the Croatian public about what
NATO and Croatia are doing to assist in Afghanistan.
3. (C) Sanader emphasized that he would invite Karzai only if
Washington believed it would be useful. Ambassador committed
to seek USG reaction and get back to him asap. Please advise.
