We delivered reftel points to Viktoras Meizis, Director of
the Ministry of Health's Foreign Relations Division, on May
11. He said that the Health Minister, the Minister's
secretary, and he would be going to the Geneva meeting. The

MFA will not send anyone from Vilnius; it will be represented
by the Lithuanian Ambassador in Geneva. Regarding smallpox,
he said the GOL agrees there should be no rush to set a date
for destruction of the live virus. He added, however, that
the GOL is still waiting to hear more on this from the EU.
He said that the GOL has done a lot of preparation work for
Pandemic Influenza and for Avian Influenza in particular. He
agreed that sharing of influenza virus samples is important
but cautioned that it must be done carefully. He also agreed
that insufficient vaccine supply is a global concern and a
concern in Lithuania as well.
