Saleumxay said he was well aware of the requirements of UN Member States under UNSCR 1737 and 1747. MFA has drafted its submissions, and these are being cleared with other Government of Laos (GOL) agencies. Since Laos has diplomatic relations with Iran and a range of ongoing bilateral activities, the clearance process is taking some time. He pointed out that the GOL is taking measures under its legal framework to prevent the possible transfers or activities prohibited under the UNSCRs, and MFA is acting as liaison with other GOL agencies in this effort. Since 9/11, Saleumxay noted, the GOL has adopted a number of measures and modified others to respond to international developments. He promised MFA would push the other GOL agencies to provide full information and clear the submissions as soon as possible. HUSO
