1. (S) On March 28, EconUnit Chief delivered reftel
statement from Deputy Treasury Secretary Kimmitt to Birgit
Ertl, Assistant to the Ministry of Finance's (MoF) Director
General and to Elisabeth Ottawa, the MoF's Terrorist
Financing Coordinator. EconUnit Chief underscored the
importance of implementing UNSCR 1747 quickly, especially the
sanctions against Bank Sepah and Bank Sepah International.
2. (S) Ertl welcomed the Deputy Secretary's statement,
emphasizing that Austria would fully implement UNSCR 1747.
Ertl said the MoF had alerted Austrian banks approximately
two weeks ago that Bank Sepah would most likely be on a new
UNSCR list, asking the banking community to be vigilant
towards any efforts by Sepah to transfer assets in advance of
UNSCR 1747.
