PARTNERS FORUM
REF: A. 07 STATE 13309
B. 06 VIENNA 3622
1. A/DCM met on February 6 with Carolina Gudenus, the
Austrian MFA's DAS-level Africa Director, to press U.S.
objectives for the February 13-14 Liberia Partners Forum. We
pointed out the high level of attendees, including the
Secretary and President Sirleaf, and stressed Liberia's need
SIPDIS
for significant support.
2. Gudenus reiterated, per ref (b),that Austria will cover
the Liberia Partners Forum through its Embassy in Washington.
Austria supports EU contributions to Liberia, she said.
However, she said, since Liberia is not among the "priority
countries" to which Austria devotes its foreign assistance
resources, Austria will not devote additional funds on a
national basis to Liberia.
