1. On July 13, EconPolOff delivered reftel demarche in
support of Ambassador William Swing's candidacy to become
Director General of the International Organization for
Migration (IOM) to Andrea Ikic-Boehm and Michael Brunner from
the MFA's Department of Asylum, Residence, and Immigration
Matters. Ikic-Boehm stated that she was unable to confirm
support of the candidacy on such short notice. However, she
promised to pass Ambassador Swing's biographic information
and our request to the appropriate MFA and MOI offices and to
inform us as soon as the GoA reaches a decision on this
issue.
