1. (S) On May 25, Econ Unit Chief delivered reftel talking
points to Helmut Krehlik, Head of the Ministry of Economy's
Export and Import Control Division. Krehlik said that there
is only one firm in Austria, located in Krems, which produces
Australia Group-controlled precursor chemicals. Krehlik
verified that Interchem Austria is a trading company, not a
producer of chemicals. According to Krehlik's records,
Interchem last applied for and received export licenses in
2001 to ship chemicals to Serbia. Krehlik promised to
investigate further with the company.
