1. Per ref A, Mission delivered the overview of the U.S.
national action plan on implementation of UN Security Council
Resolution 1540 (2004) to the 1540 Committee Chairman, Slovak
PermRep Peter Burian, on April 20. The UN Secretariat
distributed copies of the U.S. national action plan to 1540
Committee members on April 23, and USUN provided an overview
of the plan (per ref A) at the Committee's April 23 meeting.
Among other things, USUN noted the U.S. willingness to have
the plan posted on the 1540 Committee's website and
circulated to all UN Member States and that the U.S. stands
ready to work with States to explain further the value of
developing such a plan. No Committee members asked
questions, but on the margins of the meeting, the UK
Mission's 1540 expert welcomed the U.S. plan and said it
would help her efforts to persuade London to complete its
national action plan.
