Ito said that Japan was still deciding whether to support the resolution, and would channel any further determination through its mission in New York by OCTOBER 9. Ito asked about the timing of the resolution's introduction, saying that it had raised concerns among some MOFA officials that the resolution could be used by the U.S. Congress to further criticize Japan's use of "Comfort Women" (forced prostitution) during World War II.
