Yoriko Suzuki. Suzuki said that Japan wants the UNHRC to
maintain all the country-specific mandates left over from the
Human Rights Commission. Although the Japanese government
cannot determine its position until specific proposals have
been tabled in the sixth session, it will definitely oppose
any deal that eliminates the mandates for CUBA and Belarus.
Japan has already begun to lobby some HRC countries to
support retaining the mandates, and will do so more actively
once the proposals are tabled, stated Suzuki.
