1. (SBU) Per reftels, MFA Director for Nuclear Affairs and
Nonproliferation Henk Cor van der Kwaast reported April 10
that the Dutch have decided to accept the invitation to join
the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism. Van der
Kwaast said Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen approved the
decision to join following the strong recommendation by Dutch
nonproliferation agencies. FM Verhagen's decision is
considered final; van der Kwaast said the GONL will initiate
the procedure to join the initiative by submitting a written
communication to the United States and the Russian Federation
stating its endorsement of the Global Initiative Statement of
Principles.

the "Global Initiative Coordinating Officers" to support
Global Initiative efforts:
