NETHERLANDS ANTILLES AND ARUBA

1. (SBU) Per reftel, emboffs delivered the draft long-term
status of forces agreement (SOFA) text pertaining to the
Netherlands Antilles and Aruba on June 20 to the MFA Legal
Department. A/DCM discussed the draft agreement with MFA
Deputy Political Director Wim Geerts on June 21. Geerts said
the Dutch were currently reviewing the draft text, and would
provide official comments as soon as possible. While he had
not yet personally reviewed the text, Geerts said the Dutch
view the long-term agreement as a high priority, and are
seeking a "positive outcome."
