(SBU) Acting on instructions in reftel, Blue Lantern Officer checked with the U.S. Naval Attache in DAO Tel Aviv, who confirmed that the U.S. Navy's Naval Air Systems Command has ordered the defense hardware listed in DTC Case 05-050053682. The Naval Attache explained that the items are flares produced by Israel Military Industries (IMI),Ltd., and that Naval Air Systems Command is purchasing the flares as part of a project to improve them for integration into aircraft protection systems. ¶2.
