(C) On May 17, Poloff met with Urmas Eigla, MFA Cuba Desk Officer, to discuss Estonia's ties with Cuba. The information provided is numbered in response to the reftel request. - 1. Neither Estonia nor Cuba has any foreign direct investments in each other's country. - 2. In 2006, Eigla reported that Estonia exported $58,553.00 worth of goods to Cuba and imported $169,378.00 worth of goods from Cuba. Due to the miniscule level of trade and no direct foreign investment, no bi-lateral trade agreement exists between the two countries. - 3. There are no official exchange programs between the two countries. - 4. Estonia has no diplomatic presence in Cuba and vice versa. While Estonia supports the EU positions on human rights abuses in Cuba, it is not active in monitoring events in Cuba. - 5. There have been no official high-level diplomatic visits between the two countries in the past six months. PHILLIPS
