(C) On March 14, Poloff delivered reftel points to MFA Burma
Desk Officer Anneli Poolakese and urged the EU to raise
with ASEAN the human rights problems and lack of
democracy in Burma. The GOE fully agreed with the reftel
points, according to Poolakese, and said that Burma is on
the agenda in the EU-ASEAN Ministerial Plenary Session.
However, as Estonia does not have diplomatic relations with
Burma, Poolakese said that the GOE would let other EU
member states with long standing interests and commitments
in Burma take the lead.
