(C) On November 16, Poloff met with MFA Venezuela Desk
Officer Elisabeth Eklund regarding proposed changes in the
Venezuelan constitution. Eklund said Sweden supports the EU
issuing a statement expressing concern about the
deteriorating human rights and democratic situation in
Venezuela and is currently working within the EU on this
issue. Eklund added that during the visit of Colombia's Vice
President to Stockholm next week, Development Minister
Gunilla Carlsson intends to address Swedish concerns about
the human rights situation and state of democracy in
Venezuela.
