1. (C) Department requests country clearance for Office of
Korean Affairs Director Sung Kim and NSC Asia Director of
Chinese Affairs Paul Haenle to travel to Seoul en route to
Pyongyang for consultations related to disablement activities
from December 18-23. Travelers will arrive Seoul December
18, travel to Pyongyang overland December 19, return overland
to Seoul December 21, and depart Seoul December 23. Specific
times for DMZ crossings will be provided separately via email.


2. (C) Department requests Embassy Seoul to name a control
officer and provide administrative support, including
arrangement of ground transportation from Seoul to DMZ, and
from DMZ to Seoul, ROKG and UNC cooperation in facilitating
travel across the DMZ, and accommodations in Seoul December
18 and again December 21-23. Department thanks post for its
assistance.
