1. IN ACCORDANCE WITH POST'S DISASTER DECLARATION AND
REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE (REF A),USAID/DCHA/OFDA HAS
APPROVED AN INITIAL AMOUNT USDOLS 100,000 TO ASSIST
THE GOVERNMENT OF DJIBOUTI (GODJ) IN RESPONDING TO A
CHOLERA OUTBREAK. ADDITIONAL FUNDS MAY BE PROVIDED
PENDING FURTHER DETAILS ON UNMET NEEDS.
2. USAID/OFDA UNDERSTANDS PER REF (A) THAT POST HAS
IDENTIFIED UNICEF AS THE APPROPRIATE AWARDEE FOR THESE
FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF TREATMENT SUPPLIES AND TO
FACILITATE AN INTENSIVE HEALTH, SANITATION, AND
HYGIENE CAMPAIGN TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF DISEASE.
OFDA WILL WORK WITH POST TO AWARD THESE FUNDS TO
UNICEF.
3. OFDA ACTION OFFICER FOR THIS EMERGENCY IS WARD
